I feel like getting a little more heavy today. Megadeth is the topic of choice.
My first run in with Megadeth was seeing the video for Peace Sells. Being all buzzed up in a room full of my buddies and it was like a strobe light. From the opening bass line to the double bass drum at the end it just rocked all the way through.
In my Sophomore or Junior year of High School I was able to catch them live in Cedar Rapids, IA opening for Alice Cooper. It was a strange combo and you could tell it by the varying age in the audience. They were met by booing when they returned for another song. Dave Mustaine took it in stride with the response…”We’re going to do one more, if you don’t like it…fuck you…” and they broke into Peace Sells.
Years later I caught them again on the Countdown to Extinction tour at Palmer Auditorium in Davenport, IA. wasn’t much of a concert feel as they pretty much stand in the same place and trash their heads but it rocked anyway.
I was a huge Metallica fan as a kid so I struggled at times with the “If you like one you can’t like the other…” but got over it. Funny how we can get tied up in those things, huh?
So anyway, let’s rock out and watch some Megadeth videos!
